Biography

In 2008 I established Monk Design to offer creative design solutions for transportation disciplines.  A product design graduate from Art Center College of Design, I started working at Designworks/USA. I gradually built a career as a leading interior designer in the automotive world (designing for marques like Rolls-Royce, and as chief designer at Jaguar Land Rover) before creating my own design studio.

My design sensibilities have grown out of a life on the move: born into a designer family, I grew up in Italy, my father a Californian, my mother Swiss, and I went on to lead a nomadic design life around the world. As a result of my own journey with a broad spectrum of experiences I believe I have a unique outlook to offer.

My focus is on performance yachts, with an emphasis on interiors, details and livery. Future vision projects are part of my design vocabulary and as you will learn from acquainting yourself with my website, the cross-pollination of disciplines allows me to bring a fresh perspective to every design challenge. My work has received international acclaim; from the World Superyacht Award for the WallyCento “Hamilton” to a Red Dot Design Award for the electric bicycle I designed.

Additionally, I have lectured at the Royal College of Art in London and at the International University of Monaco. I have also been on the Judging Panel for the final Degree Show at the Yale School of Architecture and, since 2013, for the prestigious Design and Innovation Awards (previously known as the Showboat Design Awards). I am honoured that as of 2018 I will also be a juror for the Red Dot Design awards.

I like to bring creativity, clarity and elegance to each new project in order to provide Design in Motion.
